Grain
Korn is a German spirit made from grain, with an alcohol content of at least 32 per cent. It is a clear, colourless spirit that was long looked down upon as ‘cheap schnapps’. Yet Korn is a high-quality spirit with its own purity law, which is currently gaining an ever-growing following. Korn can be made from rye, oats, wheat, barley or buckwheat. The grain in question is first ground, then mixed with water, malt and yeast and mashed. The subsequent distillation process – i.e. multiple distillations, usually in column stills – removes all undesirable flavours and odours from the distillate. The end product is a high-proof, pure Korn with an alcohol content of 85 per cent, which is diluted with water to reduce it to the appropriate drinking strength.

Rosche, a family-run company in Haselünne, has been cultivating its own grain since 1703 and has been considered the city's oldest grain distillery since 1792. Rosche's tradition and the innovation of the Secret Treasures brand have resulted in this unique Emsland Grain Limited Edition Batch No. 1. Rosche has secured a special status in the grain spirit market by producing only the finest grain spirits from its own distilled wheat distillate. This means that all production processes, "from the grain field to the glass," are strictly monitored by Rosche itself. Only the heart of the distillation process was used to create this grain spirit, which is characterized by its particularly fine, mild flavor and an exquisite wheat bouquet that lingers pleasantly warming on the palate. After distillation, the Rosche Korn Port Cask Finish matures for several months in a select port wine cask, which imparts its distinctive aroma and flavor profile. The perfect union of distillate and wood creates a characterful Korn, bottled in a limited edition of only 673 bottles.
