Long Pond

The ITP designation in this rum's name stands for "Ive Trelawny Port," as the Long Pond Distillery is one of only two remaining distilleries in the Trelawny Parish of Jamaica. The ITP 15YO Single Mark Rum Special Edition captures the distinctive character of this renowned rum region in a single bottling. It is an intense, golden rum made exclusively from locally sourced sugarcane molasses. After a fermentation period of approximately four weeks, it undergoes gentle distillation in a historic John Dore double retort copper pot still. The rum then matures for many years under the Jamaican Caribbean sun in toasted American white oak barrels, allowing its complex aromas to fully develop. This special edition is bottled without the addition of any colorings or other additives. The strictly limited run of only 2,402 bottles is also the first bottling to bear the official Long Pond seal of approval. The nose reveals an expressive bouquet of aromas with typical fruity notes, pronounced spice, and a delicate hint of vanilla. On the palate, the rum is refined, smooth, and superbly balanced before transitioning into a long, elegant finish.

Another bottling from the Long Pond Distillery in Jamaica: Long Pond Rare Cask VRW 2003 18 YO Single Cask Rum Aged in Oak. Distilled in 2003 from molasses of local sugar cane in a John Dore double retort pot still, this rum achieves an ester content of 150 to 250 grams per hectoliter of pure alcohol, corresponding to the VRW (Vale Royal Wedderburn) mark of the Vale Royal Distillery, which closed in 1959. The 18-year maturation took place in a single oak barrel in Jamaica's tropical climate. Bottled at a cask strength of 60% ABV, only 320 bottles were produced from this single cask. No additives were used. This delicious rum displays a deep golden amber color and offers aromas of molasses along with notes of ripe fruit, spices, vanilla, oak, butterscotch, caramel, and ginger. The palate detects sweet notes of rich molasses, dark chocolate, walnuts and hazelnuts, orange peel, and ginger. Wonderfully spicy with an elegant oak bitterness. A powerful rum with a long, dry finish. Enjoy neat or on the rocks.
