Thanks to the unique, aromatic Savoyard flora, the fresh mountain air, and the inspiring, idyllic Alpine landscape, Dolin has enjoyed great success for 200 years with its now extensive product range. Even today, the Dolin distillery remains a family-run business, operating with traditional methods. Its renowned Chambéry beverages, including French spirits such as vermouth, aromatic liqueurs, Génépsis, syrups, and juices, are primarily made from local produce, the recipes for which are closely guarded secrets. In 1821, Joseph Chavasse founded the Dolin Distillery after discovering the perfect recipe for a delicious vermouth at the age of 25, following numerous experiments. He drew inspiration from the wild beauty of the Savoy mountains, using subtle blends of various alpine herbs to create high-quality spirits with rich and powerful notes of camphor, spices, and mountain flowers. In 1930, the distillery and company headquarters relocated to Chambéry. The company adopted the name Dolin in 1843 when Louis-Ferdinand Dolin married Marie Rosalie Chavasse, the founder's daughter. The base for this Dolin Coeur de Génépi Liqueur is a spirit triple-distilled in pot stills. Alpine mountain flowers and other secret herbs are then added and macerated to this spirit. The result is a highly aromatic and concentrated herbal liqueur that delights the nose and palate with beautiful herbal and floral notes, subtle sweetness, and freshness. All that is known is that the main ingredient of this herbal liqueur from the Dolin distillery in the beautiful French Alpine town of Chambéry is Artemisia genipi, or spiked wormwood, a herbaceous plant found primarily at high altitudes in the Alps. A whole sprig of Artemisia genipi is added to each bottle of Dolin Genepi Liqueur 1821 Brin. Along with many other herbs, the wormwood is macerated for several weeks and then distilled in an alembic still. This gives it its characteristic pale green color with golden highlights. The special production process and the closely guarded blend of the finest botanicals result in an absolutely unique aroma and flavor profile. It is powerful and intense, with herbaceous notes of Artemisia and a floral touch with hints of violet. Joseph Chavasse founded Maison Dolin in Chambéry, in the French Savoy region, in 1821, initially producing Vermouth de Chambéry. Since its inception, the company has consistently drawn inspiration from the Alpine mountains, utilizing the bounty of nature to develop original new recipes, which remain secrets to this day. In the 18th century, the Suédois Elixir enabled the Swedish physician Claus Samst to heal the poor, vagrants, and laborers, making their harsh lives more bearable. After extensive research, he compiled a manuscript describing 46 ailments that could be cured with this elixir. To ensure that the elixir's recipe, which has remained unchanged, was not forgotten, Maison Dolin decided to market it under the name "Dolin Suédois" in memory of the renowned physician. Myrrh, aloe, gentian, rhubarb, orange, and mushrooms make this Dolin Suédois an excellent digestif after a good meal. It also makes a fine aperitif, delighting the taste buds. Seventeen different select herbs from the Chambéry region meet a base wine made from Ugni Blanc grapes. For generations, Dolin has stood for producing an honest and very mild, yet aromatic vermouth. Dolin vermouths are noticeably lighter, drier, and less harsh than their major commercial counterparts.
