Hernö Gin

This floral Hernö Botany Bay Dry Gin is a tribute to the renowned Swedish botanist Dr. Daniel Solander and the place where he first set foot Down Under: Botany Bay. Of the many places around the world Solander visited, none inspired him more than Australia. There, Solander discovered an overwhelming diversity of strange and unusual plants and botanicals. This, along with Solander's respect for ancient Indigenous culture and its role in preserving Australia's natural environment, inspired Jon Hillgren, 250 years later, to follow in the Swedish botanist's footsteps and, together with the Australian Four Pillars Distillery, create a limited-edition Swedish gin with an exquisite Australian twist. The nose detects sweet citrus notes, orange, fresh eucalyptus, and intense hints of crispbread and juniper berries. On the palate, juniper takes center stage, underpinned by candied citrus fruits and eucalyptus, along with hints of a floral, peppery note from delicate Tasmanian pink peppercorns. The finish is nutty with lovely notes of chocolate, accompanied by lemon and deep blue juniper berries.

Hernö Dalarosso 2022 Gin is a Swedish gin with a touch of Italy! It's practically a journey from Dala (Sweden) to Turin (Italy) in a single sip. After a long voyage through a red ocean of deliciously sweet vermouth, they encountered Giancarlo Mancino in Turin, who became a dear friend of Hernö Gin. So it was only a matter of time before a Hernö Gin would mature in one of Mancino's casks. This exquisite Hernö Dalarosso was distilled in copper pot stills and infused with botanicals such as juniper berries, coriander seeds, black pepper, cassia bark, vanilla, cranberries, meadowsweet, and lemon peel. It then matured for twelve months in oak barrels that had previously held Mancino Vecchio, before being bottled in a limited edition of 1048 bottles. On the nose, intense juniper stands out with a floral note, along with oak and dried fruit. On the palate, Dalarosso is powerful with pronounced notes of juniper, sweet dried fruit, oak, and flowers. The finish is long and dry with lingering spice.

Hernö Pink BTL Gin from the Swedish distillery Hernö is an organic London Dry Gin containing no additives such as colorings, artificial flavorings, or sugar. Gin itself should not be colored as a marketing gimmick. Hernö Pink BTL Gin is a fruity and floral gin, with juniper taking center stage. It is distilled with a total of eight organic botanicals, including juniper, strawberries, and rose petals. The nose offers delicious juniper with crisp, green forest notes, fresh citrus, and red fruit aromas; slightly spicy. Initially floral on the palate, beautiful notes of juniper, red fruit, and coriander follow. A gin with citrus hints, underscored by spices and cassia. Hernö Sipping Gin is a unique creation from the Hernö distillery in the Swedish coastal region of Höga Kusten – a gin matured in oak barrels previously used to age other specialty spirits. Each strictly limited edition matures in a different, specially selected, high-quality barrel. The result is a clear, straw-yellow gin distinguished by its powerful character. On the nose, delicious sweet, fruity, floral, and peaty notes emerge. Hints of espresso, toffee, and vanilla are present, along with fresh citrus and pine aromas. On the palate, juniper immediately takes center stage, underscored by intense peat notes, sweet toffee, and pear. This magnificent sipping gin is peppery and warm with a soft, creamy texture. The incredibly long finish is characterized by smoke, which evolves into notes of juniper, cassia, and fruit, ultimately ending dry and slightly salty.

In the small village of Dala, near Härnösand on Sweden's high coast, Jon Hillgren founded Sweden's first gin distillery in 2011. In 2021, the Hernö Sipping Gin No. 1.5 ex Brännland Ice Cider Cask was released. For this new gin, the now world-renowned Hernö Dry Gin matured for 60 days in a barrique cask originally from Sauternes, which had previously held Brännland's Ice Cider. This is a sweet wine made from frozen must of Swedish apples. The gin underwent a gentle flavoring process with the addition of juniper berries, coriander seeds, black pepper, cassia bark, vanilla, cranberries, meadowsweet, and lemon peel, revealing its distinctive character with aromas of oak, green apple, and citrus. The nose is greeted by a strong oak aroma, followed by juniper, meadowsweet, and an undertone of fresh green apple peel. On the palate, soft flavor notes of juniper and oak, combined with meadowsweet, black pepper and citrus fruits, transitioning into a dry, spicy and almost rough finish with plenty of juniper and vanilla.

The old saying "Good things take time" perfectly embodies the philosophy of this Hernö Slow Sloe Gin. Hernö is breaking new ground by maturing its gin in diverse ways. As the very first distillery in the world, Hernö matures its gin in juniper barrels. In this case, Hernö celebrates the art of slowness, giving both itself and the carefully selected berries a full eight months to mature together. This double-matured, organic, super-premium gin, presented in a Scandinavian design, perfectly captures the essence of slowing down and savoring the moment. Nine organic botanicals, including juniper berries, coriander seeds, black pepper, cassia bark, vanilla, cranberries, meadowsweet, and lemon peel, were initially refined and matured with organic sloe berries for four months. This Slow Sloe Gin then matured for a further four months in 39.25-liter juniper barrels, before being gently sweetened to perfection. Soft on the nose, with floral sloe notes and gentle vanilla sweetness, as well as nutty and woody elements, this gin is full-bodied, fruity, and sweet on the palate, well-balanced between the gentle dryness of the sloe berries and the floral freshness of Hernö Gin.
