This exquisite Grand Reserve Rum – KONG Rainforest Rum 12YO – matured for twelve long years in ex-bourbon barrels made of American white oak in Panama. Twelve years is also the age of an adult eastern gorilla, whose habitat is the rainforest of the Virunga Mountains. There, in the misty rainforest, a variety of natural botanicals thrive, including herbs, fruits, leaves, and twigs. These are carefully harvested by hand, giving KONG Rainforest Rum an impressive array of aromas and an exciting rainforest taste experience. After the twelve-year maturation period, the rum undergoes a three-month finishing period in ex-port wine casks. The result is a smooth rainforest rum with an intense, light amber color and golden reflections, surprising the nose with a rich bouquet of aromas. The medium toasting of the casks allows soft, harmonious notes to unfold, with vanilla highlights, a hint of brandy, beautiful ripe fruits, and toasted wood. Exceptionally soft, delicious and slightly sweet on the palate, with notes of wood, port wine and fruit, culminating in a pleasant and lingering finish.

In the heart of Africa's oldest protected area live the last endangered mountain gorillas. Kong Rainforest White Edition is crafted with natural ingredients from the Virunga Mountains and is the first spiced rum inspired by the aromas and flavors of the rainforest. Gorillas consume up to 146 different types of herbs, fruits, and leaves/twigs in their diet. A hand-selected range of these is part of Kong's secret recipe. Based on the finest Guatemalan rum, Kong is infused with bamboo shoots, blackberries, wild celery, eucalyptus leaves, wild plantains, and various spices known only to the master distiller. The blend then matures for up to nine years in American white oak barrels. On the nose, initial aromas of humid rainforest and mist are followed by aromatic hints of herbs and delicate spices, along with balsamic mint notes. On the palate, a previously unknown rum taste, because KONG tastes like a bite into the mountain of the rainforest, fresh like a eucalyptus shoot, intense with a beautiful citrus character and light oak and exotic vanilla notes.
