Aikan means "wedding" in the Arawak language, the language of the indigenous people of Martinique. Aikan Whisky symbolizes the union of two spirits worlds: rum and whisky, in two distinct climates (France in Europe and Martinique in the Americas). This whisky is Aikan's first single cask malt. It is based on malted barley distilled in 2018 in old iron stills in Charente-Maritime, France. The spirit was then transported to Martinique, where it initially matured in toasted French oak casks. It was subsequently the first malt whisky to be finished for an additional year in Grand Arôme rum casks. Aikan Whisky French Malt Collection Single Cask was bottled without chill filtration in a quantity of 350 bottles per cask. The nose is rich and opulent, with malty and fruity notes of apricot, banana, mandarin orange, and pineapple, evolving into notes of beeswax and cocoa with maritime accents. On the palate, it is oily and sweet, with lovely notes of pastry, underscored by peach, lime, and plum, with intense notes of honey, pancake batter, and a hint of salt, leading into a long, lingering finish.
