Aikan means "wedding" in the Arawak language, the language of the indigenous people of Martinique. Aikan Whisky symbolizes the union of two spirits worlds: rum and whisky in two distinct climates (France in Europe and Martinique in the Americas). This Aikan Whisky Intense Single Barrel is a blended whisky that initially matured for three years in ex-bourbon casks in Scotland, followed by a year in new American oak barrels under the tropical sun of Martinique. It was then finished in a "Grand Arôme" rum cask from the Galion distillery. As a result, it boasts a beautiful amber color and an elegant, rich nose with notes of vanilla and wood (reminiscent of an aged rum), along with cocoa, cinnamon, flambéed banana, coconut, candied orange, and peach. On the palate, it is intense yet smooth, with notes of pastry and hints of pineapple, pecan, and tobacco, enhanced by spicy notes of pepper and nutmeg. The finish is long and dry, with hints of vanilla, caramel, ginger, and coffee, revealing a fresh, slightly mentholated, and very fruity character. Enjoy as an aperitif or digestif, neat, on the rocks, or in cocktails.
