The New Yarmouth Distillery in Jamaica’s Clarendon Parish is one of the island’s most renowned distilleries and enjoys cult status among rum enthusiasts. It is famous for its characterful high-ester rums, whose intense aromatic profile is the result of long fermentations and special yeast strains. For this exclusive single-cask bottling from Bristol Classic Rum, the rum—distilled in 2008—was first aged in a used American oak ex-bourbon barrel. In 2022, it was then finished in a Madeira wine cask, which imparted additional depth and complexity to the spirit. In the glass, the rum displays a dark, inviting color. On the nose, the robust notes of a classic pot-still rum unfold, accompanied by overripe fruits and a delicate sweetness. On the palate, it is balanced and multi-layered, before fading into a long, harmonious finish.
