Another exclusive Demerara rum, produced by the Diamond Distillery on the Port Mourant Estate in Guyana. There, this exceptional spirit was distilled in 1990 in the unique, historic double ex-Demerara wood still, renowned for its distinctive style. The rum then matured for many years under the tropical Guyanese sun in used American oak barrels before being transferred to the cellars of Bristol Spirits in England between 2002 and 2004. In the humid climate and at constant temperatures, this rum continued its maturation, receiving its defining finish in ex-Port casks, which imparted additional depth and aromatic complexity. Bottled in 2022 without chill filtration, the result is a rum with a deep golden color and reddish highlights, clearly derived from the Port cask finish. On the nose, it displays the classic Port Mourant style with complex notes of anise and dried fruit. On the palate, intense and complex with light leather notes, anise and ripe fruit aromas, which transition into a long, powerful and elegant finish.
