This outstanding Burmester Vintage 2020 Port once again demonstrates the excellence of the unique Douro wine region, the singular richness of its terroir, and the quality of its vines. The 2020 harvest was short and challenging, not least because of the pandemic that gripped the world. However, the harvested grapes had an excellent skin-to-pulp ratio with high sugar content, allowing for longer fermentations with excellent color and tannin extraction, resulting in wines of exceptional quality. This is a deep purple Port, complex, full-bodied, and with remarkable aging potential. The nose is elegant with harmonious aromas, where floral elements stand out (including rockrose and rose petals), combined with notes of red fruit, a touch of white pepper, and cassis. On the palate, this Vintage 2020 Port displays beautifully firm tannins and its elegant character. A well-balanced Port with flavors of fresh fruit, its finish is harmonious and even. It goes perfectly with rich chocolate desserts, but also with blue cheeses such as Stilton or Roquefort.
