The Cartavio Rum Company was founded in 1929 in Peru, South America, and named after the city of Cartavio, located just north of the capital, Lima, on the coast. Peru's unique climate is ideal for growing sugarcane. The Reserva 8 Year Old is produced using the Solera method, a popular technique in Spain. It matured for eight years in charred American ex-bourbon whiskey barrels, resulting in its beautiful, intense dark amber color and harmonious character. The nose is dominated by fruity notes, including dried red fruits, plum, and a touch of vanilla, along with perfect oak notes; an excellent balance of aromas. On the palate, it is slightly sweet and fruity, with a delicate honey sweetness underpinned by lovely oak notes. The finish is smooth and very pleasantly balanced. Ron Cartavio Reserva 8 Year Old was created to satisfy the discerning palates of the most discerning drinkers.
