The Chalong Bay Distillery in Phuket was founded by a young French couple who wanted to realize their dream of handcrafted, sustainable rums in Thailand. This premium Double Barrel is the first high-proof, barrel-aged, pure sugarcane rum from Thailand. First, the finest sugarcane plants are selected, grown without chemical fertilizers by local farmers and harvested by hand. Immediately afterward, the sugarcane is pressed to obtain 100% pure sugarcane juice. Gentle fermentation follows. The subsequent traditional French distillation takes place in an imported copper still from the Armagnac region. Finally, this award-winning rum matures for 18 months in new French oak barrels and ex-Armagnac casks. The result is a wealth of aromas including vanilla, oak, cinnamon, clove, and baked apple, accompanied by notes of dry tobacco leaves, toasted bread, and sugarcane. The very smooth, tropical taste without additives of Chalong Bay Double Barrel Ex-Armagnac X New French Oak Rum is an ode to the union of French and Thai traditions.
