As is typical for rum from the Caribbean island, Coruba Carta Blanca is a particularly full-bodied and intensely flavorful rum. It was distilled by Wray & Nephew in Jamaica from the finest sugarcane molasses. There, it was also aged in oak barrels under a tropical climate, but only for a short time, unusual for a Jamaican rum. The Coruba Carta Blanca rum was filtered through charcoal, which gave it its crystal-clear distillate color. This made it a particularly young and correspondingly bold and unusual rum, still retaining the pure and unadulterated aromas of the sugarcane. The rum was then shipped to Switzerland, specifically to Basel, where it was blended. Fruity and floral aromas rise to the nose, with a hint of sweetness and coconut. This bouquet is almost identical on the palate. Overall, a beautiful interplay of floral notes and a pleasant sweetness with a touch of vanilla and coconut. The fruity and sweet nuances stand out in the finish. Coruba Carta Blanca is excellent enjoyed neat or on the rocks. However, its greatest strength clearly lies in mixed drinks.
