Each bottle of Malteco Rum is adorned with the Quetzal, a bird native to Central America with magnificent green and red plumage, considered a symbol of freedom and prosperity. This special Malteco Selección 1992 is produced today in Panama according to time-honored Guatemalan traditions and recipes. Its base is the finest sugarcane juice, distilled in a column still in 1992 and then aged for over three decades in American ex-bourbon barrels in the high-altitude regions of Panama. Bottled in 2022 as a luxurious limited edition, it impressively combines maturity, elegance, and depth. In the glass, this vintage presents itself in an intense amber hue with golden reflections. On the nose, sweet impressions of exotic fruits emerge, accompanied by vanilla, caramel, subtle spice, and a hint of intense grass. On the palate, a syrupy opening unfolds with butterscotch, vanilla, and chocolate, complemented by roasted coffee and sage, which lend freshness and structure. Lavender honey and subtle spice notes lead into a warming, lingering finish that resonates with pleasant depth and elegance.
