Another exclusive Malteco vintage rum, released as a limited special edition for the premium segment. This rum is produced by Bodegas de América in Panama, but its stylistic roots clearly lie in Guatemala, a country known for elegant, smooth, and balanced rums. Guatemalan Maestros Roneros continue these traditions in Panama today, using time-honored recipes, and their signature is unmistakable. The Malteco Selección 1993 impressively embodies the best that Malteco has to offer, presenting itself as very natural, aromatic, and complex. It is based on the finest sugarcane juice, distilled in column stills in 1993, before the distillate matured for many years in American ex-bourbon barrels in the mountains of Panama. This vintage was bottled in 2022. In the glass, it displays a warm amber color. The nose unfolds with intense aromas of wood, walnuts, vanilla, ripe fruit, and resinous bark. On the palate, it is round and complex with notes of nougat, Marasca cherry, and ripe fruit, underpinned by beautiful depth and harmony. The finish is long and elegant.
