In Inca mythology, Mama Quilla was worshipped as the goddess of the moon and also as a patron saint. The Incas believed that solar eclipses were caused by a snake, a lion, and a puma attacking the goddess. To protect her, the Incas threw arrows into the sky to drive the animals away. In return, Mama Quilla regulated the weather and ensured ideal conditions that guaranteed bountiful harvests. This Mama Quilla XA Ron Extra Añejo, a balanced and spicy rum from Guatemala, is a tribute to the goddess. This rum is a successful blend of Guatemalan rums that found its way to Europe and received its elegant finish in the Charente wine region of France, aged in selected old Cognac casks. On the nose, it initially reveals itself as fruity and sweet. Tropical fruit notes mingle with hints of cinnamon and cocoa. On the palate, this elegant rum presents itself as balanced, aromatically complex, rich, and rounded with beautiful honey notes. Its finish reveals hints of crème brûlée and sweet spices. It won the gold medal at "The Rhum & Cachaça Masters" in 2022.
