For nearly a century, the Montebello distillery on Guadeloupe has been synonymous with distinctive Rhum Agricole, crafted from fresh sugarcane juice and aged with meticulous craftsmanship. The 2015/2022 La Rencontre cuvée is the result of a special collaboration with the Breton Distillerie du Gorvello, which has been producing apple brandies and Pommeau de Bretagne since 1984. After aging, this rum received a finishing touch in Pommeau barrels, elegantly blending Caribbean sugarcane aromas with the fruity depth of Brittany. In the glass, it displays a bright, amber hue with subtle brick-red highlights. The nose unfolds a seductive and complex bouquet of roasted apples, melted butter, and fine wood notes, radiating depth and warmth. On the palate, the rum is full-bodied and smooth with a fresh structure, accompanied by hints of baked apple desserts, Breton shortcrust pastry, and candied citrus fruits. The finish is soft and harmonious, reminiscent of a delicate tarte Tatin. This cuvée is particularly enjoyable neat at room temperature as an elegant digestif.
