Jean Baptiste Labat – widely known in the Caribbean as Père Labat – was a 16th-century Dominican missionary, renowned for, among other things, his advancements in the rum distillation method. When the owner of the Domaine Poisson sugar refinery on the island of Marie-Galante began producing his own Rhum Agricole in the early 20th century, he honored this pioneering spirit by naming the rum after him: Père Labat. This Père Labat Rhum Extra Vieux Hors d'Age 8YO displays a beautiful mahogany to amber hue. Spicy yet perfectly balanced, it impresses with sweet notes of sugarcane. The nose initially reveals seductive floral and exotic fruit aromas. Broad flavors of fragrant flowers develop on the palate into delicious notes of chocolate.
