Platte Valley is one of the few corn whiskeys that are actually sold as such. Unlike most other whiskeys, Platte Valley is aged for 30 months in oak barrels, allowing it to be called a Straight Corn Whiskey. The requirement for this designation is a minimum of 24 months of aging, which is significantly exceeded here. Furthermore, its mash is made from 100% corn, even though the legal requirement is only 80%. Platte Valley Corn Whiskey has a very pale color, reminiscent of white wine. The nose reveals subtle fruity aromas and a delicate sweetness. This sweetness is also clearly noticeable on the palate, where Platte Valley has a slightly oily, but not unpleasant, character. The finish is marked by subtle peppery notes and is rather short. Platte Valley is an exciting whiskey, especially for those looking to discover new flavor profiles, and thanks to its stoneware bottle, it also makes a great gift for any whiskey enthusiast!
