The Quinta do Crasto Vintage Port 2022 is an expressive vintage port that achieved remarkable quality despite the challenging climatic conditions of the year. The vines, over 60 years old, grow on the typical schist terraces of the Douro Valley and, thanks to their deep root systems, developed grapes of exceptional intensity. 2022 was characterized by extreme heat and drought, which produced smaller, concentrated berries and gave the wine particular density. After hand-harvesting, the grapes were foot-trodden in the traditional lagar and then fortified with grape spirit to stop fermentation. The wine was then aged for two years in large oak casks. In the glass, it displays a dark purple, almost opaque color. On the nose, it unfolds a vibrant spectrum of aromas with notes of rockrose, blackberries, and subtle hints of cocoa. On the palate, it is powerful, with a firm structure, dense tannins, and elegant depth. The finish is long, complex, and intense, carried by ripe fruit and mineral freshness. A vintage port with great aging potential, capturing the essence of the Douro in concentrated form.
