Skinos Mastiha Spirit is an exceptional liqueur made from the aromatic resin of the mastic tree. Genuine mastic grows exclusively on the island of Chios in the Greek Aegean Sea and has been an integral part of local culture and tradition for centuries. Even in ancient times, the special properties of mastic resin were valued, particularly as a soothing after-dinner treat. To produce Skinos, the resin is first steeped and macerated in alcohol before being distilled in a copper pot still. This elaborate distillation process clearly distinguishes Skinos from many other products that rely on simple maceration. After distillation, the liqueur is blended with sugar syrup and water to achieve its balanced structure. The nose reveals fresh notes of pine, citrus fruits, and a hint of mint.
