What truly sets this St. George Dry Rye Barrel Aged Gin from California apart from other aged gins is that its base spirit is 100% rye—the same rye used to make rye whiskey. This gin boasts just six botanicals: juniper berries, black peppercorns, caraway, coriander, and grapefruit and lime peel. Juniper is the star of this spirit, but while gin typically emphasizes the peppery side of the botanical, the two years, two months, and twenty-four days of aging in a former Pinot Noir barrel brings out the juniper's fruity qualities. Aging gin in a red wine barrel initially sounded irrational until tasting it and realizing how the wood enhances the malted rye and the bold botanicals of this genre-defying spirit. This rare single cask whisky was bottled at cask strength at the perfect moment, combining the freshness of youth with the complexity of age. Ideal for Old Fashioneds, Manhattans, Martinezs, and other rye cocktails. Also a lovely addition to drinks with sherry, umeshu, or ginger.
