Another high-quality William Hinton rum, produced on the small Portuguese island of Madeira. William Hinton founded a sugar factory with an attached distillery on Madeira as early as 1845, which quickly became one of the largest on the island. However, operations ceased in 1986. In 2006, his heirs revived the old tradition and have since been producing exceptional rums, which undergo their exquisite finishing in various casks. This William Hinton Rum Limited Edition 6YO Aged in Madeira Cask consists of a rum that aged for six years in oak barrels before being blended with a 25-year-old rum from old stocks. The blend then matured for a further three years. Its final maturation and finishing phase took place in a former Madeira wine cask. It displays a dark amber color. On the nose, initially sweet notes of raisins and brown sugar emerge, gradually becoming drier. On the palate, it is rich, fruity, and expressive with beautiful aromas of wood, spices, peach compote, figs, and tobacco. The finish is soft and semi-dry with notes of spices, licorice, and fennel.
