The story of Williams & Humbert Bodegas began almost 140 years ago. They were involved in creating the "Jerez-Xérès-Brandy" designation of origin. The winery was founded in 1877 by Englishmen Sir Alexander Williams, a connoisseur and admirer of the products from Jerez, Spain, and his brother-in-law Arthur Humbert, a specialist in international business relations. The area around Jerez de la Frontera in southwestern Andalusia is characterized by its unique microclimate, influenced by its proximity to the coast and the Guadalquivir and Guadalete rivers. Today, some of the winery's wines and brandies are aged in the highest quality oak barrels ("soleras"). These form the basis of the current development and aging process ("crianza") of each individual wine and brandy from William & Humbert Bodegas. Today, Bodegas Williams & Humbert is among the most prestigious wine producers worldwide, boasting the largest and most beautiful cellars in Europe and proud to be part of Andalusian cultural heritage.
