This first-class apricot brandy is produced by the Zu Plun Distillery in the Dolomites. The velvety fruits of the apricot tree are among the oldest cultivated fruits and originally come from northern China. For centuries, they have also been grown in warm and dry regions of Europe, but nowhere do apricots thrive better than in the Vinschgau Valley in the Alps. The Vinschgau apricots used for Zu Plun apricot brandy are actually a distinct botanical variety, which even Austrian distillers appreciate. The apricots are harvested when very ripe, then immediately and carefully pitted, crushed, and mashed. After double distillation, the brandy is aged in a copper pot still. The meticulous craftsmanship and precise distillation are rewarded with a crystal-clear apricot brandy that boasts vibrant, pure fruit and delicate, characteristic aromas. The nose is greeted by an exquisite bouquet of apricot, vanilla, and anise. On the palate, a piquant, subtly spicy interplay of sweet and sour notes unfolds. The finish is velvety with vibrant, invigorating fruit and a hint of anise.
