This Austrian Empire Navy Rum is produced in small batches from the finest, aged Dominican rums sourced from a variety of specially selected casks. Each cask, which previously held bourbon, sherry, port, or single malt Scotch whisky, imparts its own unique character to this rum. Using the Solera method, the contents of these different casks are blended to create a perfect blend. This blend then matures for at least 21 years in oak barrels. Following this, it undergoes a further aging period of 12 to 16 months in an ex-Oloroso oak barrel, which gives the rum its rich flavor profile. On the nose, wonderfully balanced aromas from the Oloroso barrel and aged rum are present. On the palate, sweet notes of fruit, herbs, chocolate, dried fruit, Oloroso grape, and aged wood also contribute to this superb balance.
