Old Bert, as friends called Albert Michler, the company founder, is depicted on the back of the bottle label wearing a top hat. His face is intentionally omitted. Instead, the label's themes represent his virtual world—an imaginary paradise with forests and the Blue Mountain range in Jamaica. The unifying elements are green, red, blue, and, of course, black. The label is made of textured fine paper with a green embossed base for the main logo. All the graphics were hand-painted by a young artist, exclusively for this project. Old Bert Kingston Spiced Recipe No. 140 is made from the finest Jamaican pot still rum and infused with delicate spices, including Persian lime, vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, ginger, and peppercorns. This results in a well-rounded flavor of rum, spices, toffee, and tropical fruits. The nose is intense, typical of rum, with a subtle citrus note. The palate detects a true pot still rum, pleasantly sweet and fruity with citrus and vanilla notes, slightly spicy. This rum is best enjoyed on ice with cola, tonic, or ginger beer, garnished with a few fresh orange or lime zest strips.
